Cebu Pacific Offers 50% Seat Sale on All Its Local and Intl Flights
"The Philippines’ largest national flag carrier, Cebu Pacific (CEB) offers a 50- percent off seat sale to all its destinations from April 9 to 10, 2011 or until seats last, for travel from June 1 to Aug. 31, 2011.
Aside from all of CEB’s 33 domestic destinations, the 50-percent off seat sale includes its 16 international destinations: Bangkok, Beijing, Brunei, Busan, Guangzhou, Ho Chi Minh, Hong Kong, Incheon, Jakarta, Kota Kinabalu, Kuala Lumpur, Macau, Osaka, Singapore, Shanghai or Taipei.
“This 50-percent off seat sale is our way of thanking our passengers for continuing to make us number one in the Philippines. We broke several records when it comes to the number of passengers carried in the first quarter of 2011, and we will continue to offer more opportunities for every Juan to fly,” said CEB VP for Marketing and Distribution Candice Iyog.
Last March 30, 2011, CEB flew 36,949 guests, breaking previous CEB records for the most number of passengers flown in one day. The previous records were 36,893 passengers in March 28, 2011 and 34,871 passengers in Jan. 2, 2011.
“With our brand-new aircraft fleet, extensive route network and on-time performance, we hope to break this record again during the peak summer months and help boost travel and tourism to and from the country,” she added.
Last year, CEB flew 10.5 million domestic and international passengers, with a 20-percent year-on-year growth. This year, it expects the number to rise to 12 million.
The third largest low-cost carrier in Asia, CEB flies to the most number of destinations and routes in the Philippines, to the most ASEAN destinations and routes from the Philippines, and is the only Philippine low-cost carrier flying to all three major North Asian countries of Japan, China and South Korea.

Qantas Airlines faces global strike threats
"SYDNEY, April 7, 2011 (AFP) - Australia's Qantas Airlines could face picket lines, protests and go-slow action by baggage handlers worldwide after unions warned Wednesday they were mulling a global strike against the airline.
The International Transport Workers' Federation (ITF) said the group's executive would meet in London next week to discuss broader action against Qantas, which is facing a strike in Australia over pay and conditions."
Asia Pacific airlines post only moderate growth in February
"MANILA, Philippines – The Association of Asia Pacific Airlines (AAPA) reported some moderation of passenger and air cargo demand growth in February 2011.
Airlines based in the Asia Pacific region carried a combined total of 14.7m international passengers in February, 3.5% more than in the same month last year.
International passenger traffic, measured in revenue passenger kilometre (RPK) terms, grew by 2.8%, whereas available seat capacity grew by 6.9%, resulting in a 3% fall in the average international passenger load factor to 79%."

Cebu Pacific offers seat sale to Singapore, Korea
MANILA, Philippines - Cebu Pacific is offering a seat sale to Singapore and South Korea for travel from May 1 to June 30, 2011.
Passengers can avail of R999 ‘Go Lite’ seats from Clark or Manila to Singapore, as well as R1,499 ‘ Go Lite’ seats from Cebu to Singapore.
Those headed to South Korea have the choice between going to Incheon (Seoul) or Busan from Manila and Cebu. CEB will launch its Manila-Busan service on June 15, 2011. These ‘Go Lite’ seats are available for P2,999.
Davao-Kota Kinabalu flights soon
DAVAO CITY - The Francisco Bangoy International Airport here will soon add additional foreign flights to Kota Kinabalu in Malaysia, the city's investment promotion officer said over the weekend.
"Very soon, we will have direct air linkage straight to Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia," Jason C. Magnaye, officer in charge of the Davao City Investment Promotion Center (DCIPC), told some 38 CEOs of different Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) companies Friday at a hotel here.
